The Resonance Improv Alliance transforms lives through the power of spontaneity, laughter, and human connection. We believe that the transformative magic of improvisational comedy extends far beyond the stage – it’s a powerful tool for personal growth, community building, and breaking down social barriers.
Founded by passionate improvisers who discovered how improv comedy can heal, inspire, and unite people, our mission is to bring the core principles of improv – listening, collaboration, and embracing the unexpected – to communities across Northern Virginia and beyond.
Through performances, improviser resources, and community workshops, we use the art of improv to:
- Empower individuals to build confidence and communication skills
- Create safe spaces for creative expression
- Foster empathy and understanding across diverse groups
- Provide playful experiences that celebrate human potential

It’s our 1st anniversary, and we’re celebrating in style at 1st stage!
Join us for the Lights of Laughter, our biggest event yet! Resonance Improv Alliance is bringing together independent improvisers from across the region for a one-of-a-kind comedy marathon that’ll brighten the winter night.
The fun kicks off at 3PM with a complimentary reception for our amazing supporters and potential sponsors. It’s a chance to mingle with fellow philanthropists, improvisers, and community members. You’ll hear all about the impact of our first year, the incredible communities we’ve been able to support, and get a sneak peek at the auction items up for grabs. Be sure to join us for Block 1 right after the reception—it’s going to be a blast!
