Ride Together. Celebrate History. Support the Next Generation.
The 5th annual Commonwealth Wilier Club Gran Fondo welcomes Wilier Triestina owners, cycling enthusiasts, friends, and family to Richmond for three days of riding, fellowship, and giving back. This year’s event proudly benefits The Green Lizard Foundation (TGLF), whose mission is to introduce young people in Herndon to cycling and promote healthy, active lifestyles.
The 2026 Gran Fondo event marks a new chapter for the Commonwealth Wilier Club as it becomes an official fundraiser for TGLF. Proceeds from the weekend will support programs that introduce young people to cycling through access to bicycles, equipment, mentorship, education, and healthy outdoor experiences.
The Green Lizard Foundation (TGLF) was founded on the principle that every young person should be able to lead a healthy, active lifestyle regardless of financial circumstances.
TGLF, the charitable arm of Green Lizard Cycling in Herndon, Virginia, was established to improve the lives of children from families in need. TGLF supplies bicycles, bicycle parts, nutrition, and learning opportunities to underserved youth in our local community.
TGLF’s founding principle led us to support our community in the following ways:
- Sponsoring youth groups and fundraising events
- Giving away bicycles and helmets
- Donating sports equipment to high school programs
- Distributing food and food gift cards
- Partnering with other nonprofits with similar missions in our community

In 2025, TGLF sponsored the 5th annual CAP2CAP Ride, which they supported and leveraged as a fundraising event. This Virginia ride is from Richmond to Williamsburg and back (100 miles). It was a fun cycling experience for all involved!
Building on that success, TGLF has also revived the Herndon Middle School Bike Repair Program with support from Green Lizard Cycling. They send trainers to Herndon Middle School for a couple of hours on Thursday afternoons, teaching about 20 students how to repair and ride bikes safely. The club focuses on a new element each week (such as chain maintenance or brakes), then transitions outside to focus on bike safety. At the end of the year, each student keeps the bike they worked on.
To further highlight their impact, TGLF was featured on The Inside Scoop on December 1, 2025.
Continuing TGLF’s community engagement, they’ve been a key sponsor of the Stars & Stripes NOVA Committee Clothing & Food Distribution event on December 6. TGLF/Green Lizard Cycling contributed over $1,200 in Costco food, along with over 50 volunteer hours over three days from our supporters.
In line with their ongoing support of youth activities, TGLF has again committed to being the Grand Slam sponsor for the Herndon/Reston Youth Baseball League. This was a valuable sponsorship this spring, and they look forward to supporting future MLB players.
